The Parliament of Sint Maarten is the heart of our nation’s democracy. Established on October 10, 2010, Parliament represents the voice of the people and ensures that government remains accountable, transparent, and responsive to the needs of all citizens.
With 15 elected Members of Parliament (MPs), our duty is to debate, develop, and pass legislation that shapes the social, economic, and cultural future of our country. Parliament also serves as a platform for dialogue, where diverse views come together to build consensus and strengthen our young democracy.
Beyond lawmaking, Parliament exercises oversight of the Government of Sint Maarten, safeguarding the interests of the people through open discussion, questioning, and review. Every decision taken in Parliament is grounded in the principles of fairness, equality, and service to the community.
