Based on article 44 of the Constitution, the Parliament represents the entire population of Sint Maarten. This institution consists of 15 Members and has as main tasks: supervise the Government and act as co-legislator. 

The secretariat of Parliament is the department within the Parliament that is responsible for providing organizational, administrative and legal support to Parliament in the execution of its tasks. 

The secretariat is currently looking for a suitable candidate for the function of:

RESTAURATIEF MEDEWERKER (FOOD AND BEVERAGE SERVICE WORKER)

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Serving the Members of Parliament during meetings of Parliament;
  • Serving the Members of Parliament and staff during regular working hours;
  • Preparing the Legislative Hall and Conference room when there are meetings;
  • Maintenance of the work space;
  • Assisting with keeping inventory of the storage room;
  • Assisting in other general support tasks as required. 

Job requirements, knowledge and skills:

  • Work experience in a similar position is preferred;
  • Compliance with all food hygiene, health and safety regulations; 
  • Service-oriented and a team player; 
  • Presentable, accurate and able to work independently; 
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Good command of the English language (knowledge of Dutch or other languages is an asset); 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity;
  • Ability to assist with inventory management and maintain accurate records using computer systems;
  • Flexibility to work during parliamentary sessions, special meetings, and events as required, including outside of regular working hours;
  • Knowledge of, and interest in, the Government structure is preferred; 
  • Has an affinity with Sint Maarten.

Working conditions: 

The salary associated with this position depends on your education and your experience and is between Cg. 1,892.00 and maximum Cg. 2,750.00 gross per month for a full working week of 40 hours. The salary scale associated with this position is scale 2. 

The provisions of the National Ordinance regulating the legal status of the staff of the Department of the Clerk to Parliament, together with the National Ordinance on Substantive Civil Service Law and other relevant regulations governing the employment of government personnel of Sint Maarten, are applicable.

The secretariat is the central service department of the Parliament and is charged with providing organizational, administrative and legal support to the Parliament and its Members in the performance of their duties. 

The secretariat is currently looking for a suitable candidate for the position of: 

DOCUMENT INFORMATION SERVICES OFFICER (DIV)

Function content: 

  • Collects, discloses and provides files and documents to internal and external (policy) staff on request; 
  • Draws up summaries of documents, defines the file description and assigns the file number; 
  • Prepares, co-authorizes, manages and updates (archive) organisation plans; 
  • Periodically generates standard management information; 
  • Builds up various documentary information files (e.g. alphabetical and systematic) and keeps them up-to-date; 
  • Forms, organizes, selects and checks the completeness of submitted documents; 
  • Prepares dossiers that are complex in terms of content and composition and are written in foreign languages; 
  • Records or processes missing or incorrectly included information in the file descriptions and consults various reference works in the field for this purpose; 
  • Performs activities that are in line with the above result areas or that are deemed necessary.

Job requirements: 

  • A completed HAVO/MBO (MEAO) education or an equivalent education from the “credentials” with at least 3 years of work experience in a document and information processing work environment; 
  • Knowledge of various description methods and techniques in the field of document information services and recording; 
  • Skills in managing and providing documentary information (physical and digital); 
  • Ability and skills to prioritize work; 
  • Knowledge of archiving and documentation techniques; 
  • Team player, service-oriented, result-oriented, accurate and confidential; 
  • Excellent written and oral expression skills in Dutch and English; 
  • Has an affinity with Sint Maarten.

Working conditions: 

The salary associated with this position depends on your education and your experience and is between Cg.

3,370.00 and maximum Cg. 6,315.00 gross per month for a full working week of 40 hours. The salary scale

associated with this position is scale 8.

The provisions of the National Ordinance regulating the legal status of the staff of the Department of the Clerk to Parliament, together with the National Ordinance on Substantive Civil Service Law and other relevant regulations governing the employment of government personnel of Sint Maarten, are applicable.

For candidates living abroad, the relocation and transport costs will be reimbursed in accordance with current policy.
